Mr. Sowell is an elderly man who has his cushy living at the Hoover Institution courtesy of a fund paid for by Milton Friedman, the “economist” who invented payroll deduction and who correctly describes how people will handle money where others are regarded — theories valid as long as money is considered the primary measure of human life and survival in groups. The degrees of bias, unfairness, and inequality in our current economic and social system are almost mindboggling in their endless, limitless variety. YOU must certainly be someone comfortable economically and socially — or you’d never be “defending” this masterful sophist who defends the utterly indefensible. Sowell loves to deny there is any racial or racist component to anything about economy and society. Apparently — he started out as a Marxist! I had no idea of that, you are correct. You are absolutely and utterly ignorant if you feel that Sowell’s sophistry reflects reality.

Here is reality. I haven’t had any new business owned and operated by a Black American funded by an SBA loan since the COVID funds were exhausted. Before that, it was ten to 20 times more difficult for these owners to get funding than it was for white owners. Right now I’m working on a business proposal for an elite form of cosmetic surgery — they’ll get funded. It is a white couple with a big social media presence. I just read an article about how Black physicians are not making it through residency programs to get into lucrative specialties. This couple is now helping almost exclusively “white” physicians to make even more money by performing high-end procedures on wealthy clients that can pay $50K+ …

I do this because I enjoy eating and I know I need to pay my bills.
