Welp: “The front-line teachers who are causing massive improvements in student achievement are the only ones I want to invest in, because I recognize their output.”

So let’s unpack that — and guess what Jonathan? I’m the one that works with top line startups and expansions and $multi-million equity investments as well as defense consulting —

“The only ones I want to invest in”

Um — would this be your personal decision, and if so, should it?

“causing massive improvements in student achievement”

And what would that be? How would this be quantified? Do you believe international measures? Because the tests aren’t the same in any OECD country. The comparisons likely aren’t valid. All US students are generally tested whereas the majority of nations included in the OECD surveys only test a certain percentage of students in higher-level classes.

“I recognize their output”

That’s not really showing so far, Jonathan. So far it looks like the only output you recognize is pro-Gates, pro-legacy tech propaganda.

There’s no “solution” from tech right now, the solutions need to come from people. They need to come from flexible, confident thinkers that are not worried every day whether or not they can put food on the table, pay their bills, or be able to get to work.
