We are on the same page. The original article discussed how people were commenting about the "Wednesday" Addams family show and misusing AAVE terms/using them wrongly - I don't like what Madonna does either - I hadn't known she was making that type of comments about Black artists. If she didn't always appropriate Black music, she certainly is now, and she tries to get PR affiliating with or competing with Black artists, not as a colleague or fellow artist, but as you say, somebody who's taking advantage of and copying others' talent and hard work. That's the case for artists of any background or ethnicity - if they're not commercially-minded or do not want to be part of commercial and exploitation culture. But it is a lot harder for a Black artist to achieve the highest level of success and throughout history, the overwhelming majority of the time it is a white artist who is stealing, abusing, taking advantage, and misrepresenting - the Stones are the worst I know of - almost all their songs are either covers, songs they stole from a Black artist that gave no credit, or just imitations.
