This is why we have so few great books these days, and why the group of regular readers so stubbornly won’t grow. Everybody knows everybody, it’s a totally closed system and SELF PUBLISHING DOESN’T FIX IT. It’s a smaller, pickier, meaner audience.

It’s why many kids and grownups say reading is boring.

Eating is good. Paying bills is good. I’m not sure I can hold out too much longer. It’s so HARD. SO SO HARD.
