The way things have worked for people up to now, it's extremely difficult for original creativity to occur, and generally, many of the worst, weakest, lowest-ability individuals have had the economic and social freedom to create. It's par for the course of those involved in these ventures to continue to economically and socially reward the worst. I call it "the expected". There's a word in Russian, "skaz" and it means something new, original, and unexpected that surprises and delights.

Only a small number of people would be willing or could work without compensation or support for decades to provide that. Thus: Lena Dunham and because such a dearth of good creative work is what our culture produces, everyone thinks shit is good, as seen in Idiocracy.
