The Clintons Owned Slaves
or “Ma, Why is Haiti So Poor?”
I vowed a while back to stop writing about the Clintons — so much for that vow. A conversation with Selena Routley, where she mentioned a lot of good societies like the San people and theories about Neanderthals being smarter than Homo Sapiens, reminded me of what I saw this morning: a tragic testament to the lies that people believe to justify their terrible treatment of others.
One of the first things I saw that opened my eyes to the cruel and pathetic joke (or criminal scam) of the U.S. political duopoly was a report from the Clinton Global Initiative which made it obvious that a) Bill Clinton (Democrat); b) Mike Huckabee (Republican); and c) the major beverage makers: Pepsico, Coca-Cola, and Dr. Pepper-Snapple were working together to come up with a plan to sell as many sweetened soft drinks to U.S. schools as possible. Clinton and Huckabee both signed the plan along with the beverage executives. This was advertised as a “commitment to children’s health” — reducing the amount of sugared beverages sold or served to children in schools by 5% by 2020 or something (the pledge was from 2010).
