That is exactly what's going on, Andy. We had that situation at Beyond Shelter (2006-2011). Every single thing people complain of or are reacting against now on a broad, societal level, was present there. Late hours, no respect for personal time or health (caveat: my boss stood by me after Anthony died and I did NOT do a good job for that whole year afterward), constant turmoil and chaos, eventually financial issues - due to mismanagement and poor planning. The organization was about our boss and ultimately, her only priority was her own comfort and prestige. It was a very difficult and unpleasant situation that I took responsibility for and did my best to help transition, preserving the most jobs possible. But here we are 11 years later and I would not do that again. I'd just quit. I would never work that hard or with that sense of duty again under that type of circumstance.
