So did my husband Bruce - so he mentions things like kids wore ties to school, they had to have a certain type of belt buckle (horseshoe), and they wore pants (wool suit type fabrics) that no kid would have worn when I was in school - and said that they made fun of kids that wore blue jeans, and especially one boy who wore overalls, who was considered a dumb farm kid. It sounded like things were even stricter back then.
