Salil, I just wrote a response to Toni, and I'll share with you, the feeling that "white" people represented some type of group privileged class, as opposed to the group calling the shots in the US and other colonized/colonial parts of the world were and are a certain group of white-skinned, primarily English-speaking elites - look into labor history in the US. People from Euro regions immigrated here to work and were treated extremely poorly. There's countless instances of worker exploitation, strikes, strike breaking and beat-downs. The broader segment of middle class and working class whites did better for a few years. Now, it's changing because the whole system is rotten and always has been. The two guys talking at Toni's house were just waking up to that fact. It isn't that the facts have changed, it's that more people are realizing what is going on.
