Peter, I'm sorry but I cannot clap for this in the entirety as you seem to suggest that the wealthiest people, who consume 10, 20, 30 - an infinite amount more than those who are less wealthy - will be "the last" to adopt your minimalist philosophy. We got rid of almost 100% of our possessions before moving to SW Florida in 2020. I get that downsizing greatly improves quality of life. But your examples of living in Manhattan, median income, etc - you're supposedly in banking and know nothing of the cash economy? I'm sorry. That much empathy and consideration is not due any of the rich. And middle-income or upper-middle-income people who are buying-buying-buying can work it out on their own. They are not stupid.
