Oh my gosh - Santa Barbara. Good old Montecito - yes, they're horrific there, much worse than Sarasota. What a disaster has happened. California used to be extremely nice, people and environment. The marine layer should not make people cough. We had only visited Central Coast after Bruce came - my brother and sister in law used to live there, but had already moved to the Bay area (now in Los Angeles area). That's a dirty "hidden" in plain sight secret in California. While the environmental regulations of the 70s did make a big difference in air quality, pollution continued. In the past few years before we moved, it was obvious it was getting worse, fast. The last time we went fishing off Dana Point, we were the only people to catch a fish (2 small ones, a Sculpy and I forget the other - whitefish, I think). Recently there's been news about thousands of barrels of toxic waste dumped by (???) off Catalina Island and they are discovering more. The environmental regulations were not enforced. So the fish are dying or already dead, the tide pools are empty, and there are no shells on any beach. Trees dying in forest (began to come back, now dying/dead). This is the first I've heard of the marine layer causing coughs ... my first thought was, "There might be some type of toxin in it -" It could be red tide, which we are also having here in SW FL -
That being said, how ya likin' the tri tip?? Regular people ALWAYS better than these post-it note "kings" and "queens."
