Martin, one would be required to read the report, which in NO WAY states “women rape men as often as men rape women.”

It states “ Nearly 1 in 5 women (18.3%) and 1 in 71 men (1.4%) in the United States have been raped at some time in their lives, including completed forced penetration, attempted forced penetration, or alcohol/drug facilitated completed penetration.”

This article is about the legally defined crime of rape and related physical sexual assault.

The cited report does not state the gender of perpetrators of rape upon either men or women. It covers intimate partner violence, abuse, and stalking. Even then, it doesn’t say that an equal number of women to one of these three behaviors to male intimate partners. The ratio is in fact, about 17:1. For every 17 women who receives one of these three behaviors from an intimate partner, one man receives it from a female partner.

So, it is not that the problem does not exist; it does exist. Men in same-sex relationships are possibly raped by their male partner at the same rate as females by their male partners. Same-gendered couples may also experience abuse.

The perpetrators who rape acquaintances or strangers are overwhelmingly male, whether or not they select a male or female to rape. Rape of females is again, approximately 18:1 female to male “victim.”

You repeated a link that I went to read, noting that it in no way comprises any research that states that rape, or other issues not encompassed by the original article (containing “rape” in the title) is perpetrated as frequently by females upon males as the opposing situation.

That said, I did experience some males who experienced domestic partner violence from their female partners while I worked in social services. They experienced extreme challenges in receiving any type of assistance, whether it be counseling, shelter or other types of support. In terms of gay men being beaten or raped, those shelters or programs have emerged in the last decade, and only in larger urban areas. In terms of prison rape, no one wants to talk about that, and of the millions of prisoners there are certainly many thousands of traumatized victims. Of men. Who rape and beat and terrorize them.

Will some women stalk? Yes. Will some women hit, yell, scream and throw heavy objects? Yes.

But this article was about RAPE. And the rape perp is almost 100% of the time a male, whether his victim is male or female. Because the man has something to use as a penetrating object and his purpose is to beat, humiliate, injure and denigrate his victim, with both a violence and a sexual component.

Un real.
