Johnny, I'm sure I'm not stating this very properly or well, but where I come from does come from "passing." I have my Jewish family and my "white" WASPY family. My cousin was just visiting. Both sides are not among the "powerful" old-time $$ people. But, I have been around them, and I've heard their statements and seen what they do (like what James Baldwin said - I hear what you say but I can't believe your words because I see what you do). I mentioned the Bushes in what I wrote for a reason, I know they are very bad, and have been extremely toxic and are purposely racist against Black Americans as well as whatever the word is for being against Jewish people, and also others - Asian, Native American, Hispanic. There is a reason in these people's minds for all of it, and they have statements prepared for each circumstance, and heavy, deep-set beliefs.

As an example, I worked a long time to develop affordable housing & job programs for very poor, homeless people in Los Angeles. I've had wealthier white people go, "Why are there so many homeless?" I tell them simply "Because the rent is too damn high!" They not only do not 'get' that, they don't 'get' anything else because they do not really see, feel, or care for others. They live in bubbles and ... that's how it goes on and perpetuates. They are fine, they have few to no worries--the very last thing they'd do would be to sit and think about what others experience or what is really going on. What I told you, was what I have heard from MANY wealthier non-Jewish white people. They call Jewish people "those people" and express surprise when they learn an entertainer or scientist is Jewish. They think of Jews in stereotyped terms. (Greedy, money-grubbing, etc). They say "Jews killed Jesus." They are bedrock prejudiced and always go to the "blame game" of the person that is the one who in fact, was wronged and injured. That's what I hear and that is throughout the redneck culture and the elite WASPY culture (Bush-type) they copy from.
