Is Mueller’s Report The Beginning of the End For Legacy Journalism?
What did media fail to report to Americans that they needed to hear over the past 2.5 years of nonstop “beginning of the end for the Trump Presidency”?
It’s not just Mueller. It’s everything. At least 45% of legacy TV news/talk shows and 30%+ of above-the-fold web/mobile site reporting has been devoted to anti-Trump speculation for the past 28 months.
Remember Stormy Daniels? According to Ad Age a year ago, Stormy Daniels has a great brand strategy.
In January 2018, Stormy was getting great PR via the Washington Post.
“Democracy Dies in Darkness”
Let’s see how Stormy Daniels’ brand strategy is working out 12 months later.
Stormy has to keep making appearances because the lawsuit filed on her behalf against Donald Trump by her “celeb” attorney Michael Avenatti was dismissed in December 2018. She was ordered to pay court costs and attorney fees. Avenatti has filed for bankruptcy and in this on-again, off-again headline-making relationship … yeah it’s “off again.”
Now, as to Stormy? I like her. Avenatti?
THE SAME PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN SCREAMING TO IMPEACH TRUMP OVER RUSSIAN COLLUSION FOR THE PAST 28 MONTHS PROMOTED “HOTTIE AVENATTI” to run for office in 2020 against Trump! As to Avenatti himself? He has little choice but to continue his grift after bankrupting and destroying Tully’s Coffee company and other allegedly fraudulent business dealings.
Now that we’ve cleared this up, let’s look at what Americans didn’t hear from 24–7 news channels, nonstop “pundit” commentary, and vetted mobile news since November 2018.
“Did You Know”?
As of December 2018, 24 state legislatures had enacted pro-Israel oaths.
More than 800 California schools have lead in their water.
The New York Times story on gun deaths buries the information that rather than school shootings, more than two-thirds of the highest-ever total of gun deaths were suicide.
Not everyone who commits suicide uses a gun.
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, 47,173 people committed suicide in the U.S. in 2017.
More than 2.2 million Americans are incarcerated in state and federal prisons. As of 2016 (the most recent year with final statistics available), the top three states with the highest rates of incarceration residents are Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Alabama. If you have not heard by now, the U.S. has the largest prison population in the world, out of 5% of the world’s population. The U.S. incarcerates more men and women than China and India combined. Even Russia incarcerates at a lower rate than the U.S.
Let’s say you were one of the people who did not quit watching cable or network news programs and who did not disregard all “Trump-Russia” stories sometime in early 2017.
Do you ever ask yourself, “If Donald J. Trump is such a criminal, why isn’t he incarcerated when 2.2 million other men and women are?” Do you ever think, “maybe I don’t really understand my country” — at all?
Do you think Donald J. Trump is the only one? You were the ones saying “Hottie Avenatti for President” ad nauseum.
The U.S. remains “at war” with 7 countries officially — and has been since 2002.
According to HUD (an organization which never did a good job and is now in an appalling state), there’s a nationwide shortage of 7.2 million affordable housing units. There are also 16.3 million vacant homes nationwide. HUD doesn’t report this because HUD has zero to do with actual housing, the economy, or lenders. It manages 1.3 million units of ‘affordable public housing’ nationwide through all programs. This is a “forever problem” not a Donald J. Trump or unqualified HUD Secretary Ben Carson problem. Or maybe since you want “Hottie Avenatti” to run for President to beat Donald J. Trump, you think Julian Castro was an ‘effective’ HUD Secretary.
The Boeing 737 Max 8 crashes and belated FAA groundings show how corrupt the air safety system and aerospace industry has become.
The opioid crisis shows how corrupt the FDA drug approval and pharma marketing process has become.
The college admissions scandal highlights how corrupt the college and university system has become.
I write about these matters because I have had success in four different types of jobs and industries (non-profit, for-profit business development, education, professional writing) but like everyone else, I have been working harder than I ever thought possible just to keep my head above water since 2001. The only way my life would get “easy” would be if I used my knowledge to cheat and rip others off. It’s painfully obvious that too many people have chosen corruption in this country for far too long.
And that nothing bad has happened to them because of it.
It’s one thing to escape from reality in movies, games, books, YouTube, or Netflix. It’s one thing to watch network or cable news blare on about
For over two years! TWO YEARS AND 5 MONTHS!
Now they’re telling you that Beto O’Rourke will be President! The guy squats on coffee shop counters to talk to people, can’t even string a coherent sentence together, his father-in-law is a billionaire, and he was a corrupt local government official who ruined affordable housing. He lost to Ted Cruz and was a lousy Congressmember who took money from every big corporation under the sun, especially oil and gas industry.
Have we U.S. citizens and residents had enough?
I don’t know about others. I sure have.
Fall 2019 colors are going to be deep orange, purples, and gray/dark greens (inside joke). It’s not me, it’s us. What that really means is you need to grow up, you need to listen to real people, and you need to tell Rachel Maddow to shut the F up.
