I'm sorry Christyl - sorry your family lost its property on Hawaii and the whole situation was not good for your family. I am in wholehearted agreement about climate change and the environmental disasters resulting from short sighted and greedy, destructive policies.

Our home was in an area considered safe from normal hurricanes and there are many communities on the gulf coast near us that have built to withstand hurricanes at Ian's strength. Punta Gorda, FL was the first place we moved as refugees from California when we went to Florida in 2020. It was almost completely destroyed by Hurricane Charley in 2004 and has now rebuilt and came through the eyewall of this storm with much less damage than other areas. Our home came through almost unscathed.

I object to any and everyone blaming any one political party or politician for this. It is all politicians and our entire society and entire way of life. As someone forced to move from their home of 5 generations and who until 2 days ago, feared a total loss of the home that we could afford that offered us a safe and decent place to live - opposite sides of the country, supposedly "opposite" "political" "parties" - greed and evil all around.
