I loved this book - I still have a copy that belonged to my family - I don't know if it was my mother's book, as it came out when she was in school, or my grandmother's. I feel like all of the negative information we hear is meant to drive people apart and keep all who are not among the elite, down. Now GWTW is considered the most racist story ever and Margaret Mitchell is routinely vilified. I knew absolutely ZERO of her story before reading this. What an amazing woman!
