I live in Florida now and I am always very cautious about how I approach and talk to nonwhite people. It's obvious they are cautious and for good reason. Same as I'm cautious and my eyes dart around when I am not with my husband or in a place where I know it's safe for me to be, like department stores or supermarkets or alone on the beach. It's really great you were able to have a nice day with the kids and your kids the next day.
