I don't like this message, but this message is true. I do not like that I have the things I have because in the past, someone stole them from others who should have happy, fulfilled lives, good homes, good jobs, and a safe and good community and lifestyle. Rich food that I have in my mouth doesn't taste so good if I know it came from harm to animals and people and the planet. It tastes bad and I do not want it. I try to communicate with other white people about these issues. Few seem to comprehend, but I think some are beginning to listen and understand. I'm completing a fair housing portion for a real estate licensing course today (i.e. writing it). It is explicit about housing discrimination and the broker's responsibilities to prevent that from continuing to occur. It's very detailed. Having this information is a type of progress because even 10 years ago things like redlining and blockbusting were not part of their education and legal and ethical requirements. Thank you for being clear and concise.
