I don't know it should be written either, Max, but the situation you object to is common. It is the same with racism. There is real racism. Some is organized. The majority is disorganized, and it is increased and fed with every minor racist situation that is brought up - for example, I'm a sci fi writer, and an older writer recently received a lifetime achievement award. When discussing the award with the prior year recipient of the same prize, she said this Black gay author was "colored" or mentioned the term "colored people." The author, known as a "liberal," was instantly kicked out of the event along with her husband. I saw the person that objected (who said nothing to her face, did this behind her back) commenting how the woman saying "colored" was "verbal violence" and this individual was stating she had been "assaulted" by sitting there and hearing the term "colored" said by a 75-year-old to somebody she personally knew, also in the same age range, from a prior generation. These ongoing social media comments were so insulting to any survivor of actual violence - and appalling, doing nothing to advance understanding or decency. So if somebody says a man being rude, having limited emotions, or whatever - is "toxic masculinity" - serves as acceptance and even tacit support of rape and violence instead of just ENFORCING THE LAW and leaving human relations to individuals between themselves.
