I can not believe you are sitting here blaming RICHARD NIXON for the obesity epidemic. What is wrong with you? The man has been dead since 1994, almost 30 years and the events you describe took place when I was in elementary school. When people talk about politics brainworms, this is surely one of them. Do you know nothing about the sugar and HFCS industries and how they publicized that fat was bad for people but put sugar/HFCS in everything? Nixon had been out of office almost 20 years by that time. The "diet" industry adds to weight gain, including sugar-free sodas. Processed foods are over half of the foods sold in the US, and these industries hardly started with Nixon nor did they remotely end with him. People are overweight because of these toxic and unhealthy foods that cause a host of inflammatory and other conditions. Jess has shown how buying regular whole foods can not only be healthier, but as inflation continues - much more affordable. I usually do not tell people off this severely but that any human would think NIXON was responsible in this day and age? It's like blaming Julius Caesar for the condition of the Roman Colosseum, built 100 years after he died. https://medium.com/p/f36c417c6e1c
