Hi Johnny! Where did you move in Florida? We're on the Gulf Coast/SW FL. I used to work with people in the NY housing/homeless industry (we actually used to say that) and if there were no more homeless then what purpose for the industry? Most people in NY and CA (and increasingly here in FL) are on the streets because they can't afford to pay extreme rents. A single disabled person on SSI with $1200/mo income cannot afford to pay their own rent - maybe they can rent a room. They need public housing. And it's NYC where they had the 1,000 vacant units and were not moving people in (as of a few months ago). These programs are slow, ineffective, wasteful, and ... they're not able to help. Meanwhile unoccupied luxury housing going up everywhere especially Manhattan and So Cal.
