Hello Daniel — Medium is different from Twitter. Hundreds of women and men of color objected to Caitlin’s article requesting that progressives make an alliance with Mike Cernovich along “common lines.” Hundreds and hundreds. Caitlin was not particularly respectful of their concerns, in the few occasions in which she did respond. I didn’t really comment in the threads, but saw just dozens of people I listen to and learn from and respect stating that there couldn’t BE a “progressive alliance” with Mike Cernovich (specifically) because of his clearly stated ideas about white supremacy and white genocide. Others brought up the issue of his positions on rape (date rape vs. rape with violence). I found some tweets where he says just unbelievable stuff about his ultra-powerful semen (2013) and in 1 second, the comment I linked in my article made in reply to Paul Krugman’s statements about racism and anti-semitism.

Caitlin’s responses to my questions about her article were just at the end of it, and I phrased what I said respectfully. I received no answers and the thing she did with Greenwald’s article by cutting off the one sentence at the end of the paragraph: childish at-best.

Her responses were extremely childish and unprofessional (and started the night before with insulting memes and junior-high level responses from her “fans”). The idea of saying “Hey, let’s all support Mike Cernovich because we have things in common!” I haven’t yet seen one person of color agree with that or defend her. I have half a dozen FB people, all appearing to be middle-aged white American females, telling me they still love Caitlin.
