Elemi, why would you defend these authors who do not need defense? I truly do not understand. I'm sorry - I thought you were listing those authors as ones you would support. I also think we come from such diverse backgrounds that you misunderstand me. I wrote about my father, grandfather, and uncle because they were all "regular" guys who gave me the confidence to do as I have. They believed in me and treated me very well. They treated all the women and girls in their lives very well, as equals. I never heard the type of verbal abuse, nor did I receive remotely any physical abuse from any of them. It's not "toxic masculinity" it is just plain masculinity. These diverse men were not brutes, monsters, rapists, pigs, woman-insulters, and expressly did NOT steal, take from, or exploit their families and friends. You see the plain words I write as part of some sort of toxic masculinity - well I could have substituted "high value" and "low value" - look at the insane reactions that I would mention a common erectile dysfunction commercial terminology ("Low-T? Try Regenex and Please Her!") - I'm not a fucking moron. I am an AMERICAN and all these men I mentioned? Yes, 20th century American men. I guess I didn't verbally state I had to live "like a man" as a single mom, as an executive, and working in nontraditional areas. My mother didn't make that choice. She was always referred to as "deeply shy" etc. I was, too. I overcame it so I could ... live. https://medium.com/@asterling/philip-roth-gender-bias-rules-the-world-f6b27e06fee1
