I’ve had yet more comments on my articles from people who see no fault in the U.S. Democratic political party — or any of their politicians.
As they and all media outlets tell us frequently, “Republicans” (the theoretically opposing smear on the fun-sized York Peppermint Patty of U.S. politics) are violently evil white supremacists who want to destroy the U.S. starting with people of color, LGBTQ people, and transpeople.
A reader just eloquently documented the philosophy and political courage of Franklin D. Roosevelt, usually considered one of the U.S.’ greatest leaders. And — a leader of the U.S. Democratic party.
Franklin Roosevelt has been dead for over 75 years.
There have been 14 people in the office of U.S. President since Roosevelt died and Harry Truman took over.
One of these men was shot in the head at Dealey Plaza in Dallas in November, 1963. I was a year old.
Another of the men who succeeded Franklin Roosevelt was impeached and driven out of office in 1974. I was 12 years old.
Another past President presented himself as a reformer and honest man. He served only one term in office. I was 15 years old when he was…
