Charles — I see people commenting here that there are consumption issues for people who’ve had the gastric bypass surgery, i.e. their metabolism has changed to the point they can only consume 800 calories a day to maintain weight. And, I’ve watched the shows about the extremely obese people. The small number of physicians that work with them on an expert basis combine teams of counselors, nutritionists, and the physician himself (I have never seen a female bariatric physician depicted on television though I’m sure there are some in real life). It’s not just “glucose” — I have eliminated all processed sugar from my diet. I have a chronic illness: IBS. This illness is commonly referred to as “all in the sufferer’s head” and if you’re a woman with it, they will give you opioids or psych medications — yet it would seem it has been triggered initially by GI infections. I’ve had it since I was young and when I was young and modeling, I also had a massive eating disorder, like nearly all the girls I knew, whether they were in the industry or not. I very much doubt any overweight person wants to have their activity restricted because they are too large to participate — or, for example — be required to buy two airline seats. I personally do not go to western medical doctors because I believe they directly caused the deaths of three of my family members, and contributed to the death of nearly all others in my family. I’m not even addressing the “qualifications” of the MD who told me “Childbirth MAY be painful” or the other one who told me I had HIV/AIDS, or the third one that said “You will never have children!” I have myself, as a “normal” weight woman — experienced the poor treatment that physicians offer to females on pretty much every medical visit. And, I say this as someone with half of my family in the medical profession. I do not trust them, I do not believe them, and I feel I am far healthier for avoiding traditional western medicine, and, I have the proof in form of ideal tests and metrics (of course I go for checkups but I AVOID going for other things and AVOID medication at all costs, preferring lifestyle changes). There is nothing factually wrong in the original author’s article and as I stated before, the most important point that ought to sober anyone and everyone is that the recommended treatments fail 95% of the time and over 80% of the time, make things worse! This is true, it’s confirmed by research and we can, with common sense, see it empirically. Our society’s business models are ADDICTION whether it is to processed/fast/prepared foods which are designed in labs to create repeat customers and so-called “heavy users” (from soda to candy to fast foods to Stauffers ‘healthy’ frozen dinners). You, dear Charles, like myself — are likely addicted to the screen and being a reply guy. Yes, our health is our choice but you appear to not recognize the massive task that obese people have to overcome the poorly-understood situation that has led to their condition — in large part due to factors beyond their direct control. I am able to be and stay fit because of my genetics. My best friend has different genetics and a much more difficult struggle. I know because she has been my best friend since age 13 and I love her with all my heart.
