School-Based War Zones: Blood Calls for Blood

School shootings will not stop until we take action to stop them

I know some of what the parents of the children killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, are going through.

When my son died in an accident in January 2005, a nurse put him in my arms. I was allowed to sit in the ER holding him for as long as I wanted. I rocked him in my arms for an hour.

But Lali died in an accident. No one shot my baby.

We see the faces of the parents, eyes dark with grief, heads bowed, shoulders slumped.

How can they go on?

We do. If we have other children, we go on for them.

Fathers of several of the children were outside the school running errands. They heard gunshots and begged law enforcement to let them go in and stop the killer.

But they were restrained.

An EMT went in to treat the injured. As he helped a child, someone told him his own daughter was one of the dead.

I cannot imagine. I could not have been restrained.
